Recommended food pairings: This wine pairs well with herbs and tomatoes and will even bring out the fruit flavours of the wines. Olive oil, fat and butter will cut through the wines’ tannins and work well with cured meats, rich roasted meats and hard cheeses.

Winemaking notes: Sangiovese (pronounced san joe VAE sae)
Sangiovese is grown in the famous Tuscany region, located in central Italy. It is the most widely planted red wine grape in Italy and produces a medium bodied savoury wine. Sangiovese can vary in style from delicate aromas of Strawberry to intensely dark and tannic.
It is the only grape permitted in the prestigious Brunello di Montalcino DOCG and is the predominant variety in Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, the popular Chianti and the Super Tuscans.
Good-quality Sangiovese is prized for its high acid and firm tannins. Typical flavours of dark cherries and black stonefruit are characteristic.
